Use Budgeting Parent in ChatGPT, Claude and Grok.

Ask the AI you already use “can I afford this before payday?” and it answers from your real bills, payday and balances. Add one link, sign in, choose Allow.

Server URL

https://budgetingparent.com/mcp

  • Read-only. No agent can move money or change anything.
  • You sign in and approve each app.
  • Disconnect any time in You → Connected apps.

Chat apps

ChatGPT

Set it up once on chatgpt.com.

  1. Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it Budgeting Parent, paste the server URL and keep authentication on OAuth.
  3. Sign in to Budgeting Parent and choose Allow.
  4. In a new chat, open the + menu and turn on Budgeting Parent.

Claude

Web, desktop and mobile, on any plan that allows custom connectors.

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Budgeting Parent and paste the server URL.
  3. Choose Connect, sign in to Budgeting Parent and choose Allow.

Grok

Through the xAI API, with a personal token.

Create a token in You → Connected apps (see personal tokens), then add the server as a remote MCP tool:

Python, xai-sdk
from xai_sdk.tools import mcp

tools = [mcp(server_url="https://budgetingparent.com/mcp",
             authorization="Bearer bpmcp_…")]

Coding agents and editors

Claude Code

Run once, then sign in from /mcp.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http budgeting-parent https://budgetingparent.com/mcp

Run /mcp in Claude Code and choose Budgeting Parent to sign in.

Codex CLI

Adds the server and opens sign-in.

Terminal
codex mcp add budgeting-parent --url https://budgetingparent.com/mcp
codex mcp login budgeting-parent

Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf

Each opens a browser window to sign in the first time.

Cursor ~/.cursor/mcp.json, Windsurf
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "budgeting-parent": {
      "url": "https://budgetingparent.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
VS Code .vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "budgeting-parent": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://budgetingparent.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Gemini CLI and Google Antigravity

If sign-in doesn't open, use a personal token as an Authorization header.

Gemini CLI ~/.gemini/settings.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "budgeting-parent": {
      "httpUrl": "https://budgetingparent.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
Antigravity mcp_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "budgeting-parent": {
      "serverUrl": "https://budgetingparent.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

OpenCode, Goose, Cline and other agents

Any client that supports remote MCP servers.

Budgeting Parent is a standard remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1). Paste the server URL wherever your client asks for one. For clients that only run local servers, use the bridge:

Terminal
npx -y mcp-remote https://budgetingparent.com/mcp

Personal tokens

For agents that can't open a sign-in window. Create one in You → Connected apps → Create a token and send it as a bearer token. Tokens last 90 days and are shown once. Treat one like a password and revoke it if it leaks.

Any client that accepts headers
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "budgeting-parent": {
      "url": "https://budgetingparent.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer bpmcp_…"
      }
    }
  }
}

Privacy and security

What a connected app can read

  • Safe-to-spend, safe-to-save, cash and your next payday
  • Upcoming bills and subscriptions
  • Spending by category and the last 90 days of transactions
  • Affordability and savings checks
  • SplitWisely balances

What it can never do

  • Move money or make payments
  • Add, edit or delete anything
  • See bank logins or full account numbers
  • Keep access after you disconnect it

Questions

Does it cost anything?

No. It works on Free and Pro, and questions from other apps don't use your Parent messages.

Can an AI app move my money or change my budget?

No. Every tool is read-only. Nothing an agent does can add, edit or delete anything, or touch your bank.

Who sees my numbers?

Only the app you connect, and only when you ask it something. That app's own privacy policy covers your conversation with it.

How do I disconnect?

Open You → Connected apps in Budgeting Parent and disconnect the app or revoke the token. It stops working on its next request.

My app isn't listed.

Any app that supports remote MCP servers works. Paste the server URL wherever it asks for one, then sign in.
