By accessing or using Budgeting Parent ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Budgeting Parent is a personal finance management application that helps users track spending, manage obligations, and receive AI-powered financial insights. The Service includes:

• Bank account linking and transaction tracking (via Plaid)
• Budget management and spending analysis
• AI copilot for financial guidance
• Safe-to-spend and safe-to-save calculations

3. Not Financial Advice

Budgeting Parent is not a financial advisor, investment advisor, or tax advisor. The information provided through the Service, including AI copilot responses, is for informational and entertainment purposes only. It should not be considered professional financial advice.

You should consult a qualified financial professional before making any financial decisions. We are not responsible for any financial decisions you make based on information from the Service.

4. Account Registration

• You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service
• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account

5. Free and Paid Plans

The Service offers a free tier with limited features and a paid subscription ("Parent Pro") with additional capabilities:

• Free: 10 AI copilot messages, basic dashboard and tracking
• Parent Pro ($6.70/month): Unlimited AI copilot messages and all features

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

6. Bank Account Linking

Bank account linking is provided through Plaid Inc. By connecting your bank account, you:

• Authorize Plaid to access your financial data on your behalf
• Acknowledge that we have read-only access and cannot move your money
• Can revoke access at any time by disconnecting your accounts in Settings or deleting your account

7. AI Copilot

The AI copilot feature uses artificial intelligence to provide financial insights and commentary. The AI:

• Uses a "parent" character personality for engagement — responses are conversational, not professional advice
• May occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete information
• Uses deterministic calculations for all financial math (safe-to-spend, burn rate, etc.)
• Does not store conversation history beyond your current session

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service
• Use automated tools to scrape or extract data from the Service
• Share your account with others

9. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

10. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, all your data will be permanently deleted.

11. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Budgeting Parent shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

We are not liable for any financial losses resulting from decisions made based on information provided by the Service, including AI copilot responses.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify users of material changes by updating the effective date.
